Volunteer role: Warehouse (Donation Centre) Volunteer
Volunteer manager: Donation Centre Manager
Location: Donation Centre (Warehouse Thorp Arch)
This is a key position supporting the work of our retail team. It will help to maximise shop sales by getting the right good quality donations to the right shops to maximise sales for the hospice.
The role includes:
- greeting and assisting members of the public
- accepting, sorting and organising donations including moving and lifting of heavy items
- label and storage of out of season stock
- loading vans ready for the next day’s shop runs
- signing donors up for gift aids
Commitment:
- Sunday mornings or afternoons ( between 10:00 and 15:00)

- personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers
Support you will receive from Martin House, and your involvement in our organisation includes:
- regular contact with the manager responsible for the area with which you will volunteer
- you will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Martin House offers
- you will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity
- we will reimburse reasonable expenses
- full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role
- volunteers are invited to attend hospice-wide events which include other areas of our work
- volunteers are invited to join the Martin House Volunteer’s Voice Forum (more information available on request)
- we ask all our volunteers to follow Martin House policies and procedures
- we will need you to complete documentation relating to the role
