Yorkshire artist creates commemorative print for transformed Martin House Children’s Hospice

A special commemorative print celebrating the transformation of Martin House Children’s Hospice has been unveiled by Sir Gareth Southgate.

Created by Yorkshire artist and illustrator Tall Paul Kelly, the artwork was commissioned to mark the completion of the BUILD – Martin House’s £21.9 million redevelopment project designed to safeguard the future of children’s palliative care across Yorkshire.

The print was officially unveiled by Sir Gareth during the hospice’s launch celebrations on 5 June, attended by families, supporters, staff and community partners.

Now hanging proudly in the hospice entrance, the artwork captures the spirit of Martin House and will welcome children, young people and families for years to come.

Known for his detailed, characterful illustrations and creative use of negative space, Tall Paul Kelly combines design and illustration to tell stories through his work, collaborating with studios and organisations across the UK.

Speaking about the commission, he said:

“I was honoured to be asked to create a commemorative print for the newly revamped Martin House Children’s Hospice.”

“The site was officially opened following an incredible redevelopment which has created even bigger and better facilities for the children and families who rely on the hospice.”

The BUILD has transformed and expanded Martin House, creating new specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, immersive sensory room, recording studio and enhanced clinical spaces, alongside a new Education Centre and improved family accommodation.
