Becky’s top marathon playlist songs

Becky is taking on the London Marathon for us and shared her pre-race fuel and top songs for her marathon playlist.

Here’s what Becky had to say:

Why did you choose to do the London Marathon in support of us?

‘I’m extremely lucky to work for Martin House. Every day I’m able to see the incredible support the hospice provides for children, young people and their families.

‘I really wanted to push myself to the limits and raise as much as I can to help the hospice provide it’s 24-hour support.’

Where is your favourite place to run?

‘I love running by the canal. It’s nice and flat (mostly) and keeps the runs interesting.’

Favourite running music?

‘You name it, and it’s probably on my running playlist. High School Musical, Christina Aguilera and, of course, Taylor Swift.

‘I’m Still Standing and Livin’ on A Prayer are also great songs for when I start to feel it in my legs!

‘A podcast also breaks up the long runs and my personal favourite is The High Performance Podcast.’

Top marathon training tip?

‘Hydrate, stretch and make sure you’re giving your body the rest it needs. It’s very easy to overdo it with marathon training, but don’t forget how important it is to look after your body.

‘Also, don’t be afraid to ask any other London Marathon runners for tips. I’ve learnt so much from talking to the other runners taking part in the marathon for Martin House. It’s also a great source of motivation.’

What will you be having for your pre-race breakfast?

‘A banana and a mouthful of chocolate is usually my fuel of choice. It’s very strange, but it works for me!

‘However, on race day I will be loading up on the Weetabix.’

Have you ever run a marathon before?

‘This is my first time. I know it will be tough, but worth it for such a great cause.’
