Fly high on a zip line

Calling all adrenaline junkies! Whizz along a 240-metre zip line, from the dizzying heights of the Xscape building. Take a leap of faith and fly out into the fresh air, landing across the carpark.

This is a unique activity, only available at Xscape for this one-off Martin House challenge event.

Experience the thrill with your family, friends or colleagues. Not only will you earn some serious bragging rights, but you’ll also get a medal and certificate to prove it!

Take on the LEGO walk

You’ve heard of a fire walk, right? Well, we’re replacing the hot coals with thousands of loose LEGO pieces for this challenge.

Bare your feet and put your mind over matter to take on this toe-curling trial! Put your strength and courage to the test, as you attempt to cross the path of prickly LEGO bricks before you.

This challenge is suitable for anyone aged 5+, with leg mobility. The LEGO walk requires good balance but doesn’t involve strenuous physical exercise.

Pricing

Zip line challenge (ages 10+)*: £36 sign up fee per person plus a minimum donation of £14

*Please note that age and physique restrictions apply to this activity. The launch hatch (which you will jump from) measures 100cm x 58cm. There is a minimum weight of 30kg, in addition to the 10+ age restriction. See our FAQs below for further details.

LEGO Walk challenge (ages 5+):
£25 family (2 adults & 2 children)
£10 adult (ages 18+)
£5 child (ages 17 and under)

How you can help Martin House

In addition to the entry fee which secures your place, help the hospice by doing what you can to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship. £50 could help Martin House to provide a specialist counselling session, giving a grieving parent vital time to talk and come to terms with their overwhelming sense of loss.

Will you be a bronze, silver or going for gold fundraiser? We’ll reward you with different thank you goodies depending on how much money you raise. As always, our events team are on hand throughout your fundraising journey to help in any way they can!

This event is kindly sponsored by Haribo.

Zip line frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

We would recommend dressing in weather appropriate clothing as the zip line is outdoors. Trousers or shorts are preferable as the harness includes leg-loops. Please make sure to avoid anything around your neck, anything that can fall off, obscure vision or restrict free movement of hands and arms. Glasses and hard contact lenses cannot be worn.

Does my age or health restrict me from taking part?

Please take advice from a medical professional before riding the zip line if you:

  • are aged 50 or above
  • have high blood pressure
  • have a heart condition
  • suffer from dizziness or epilepsy
  • are pregnant
  • have asthma
  • take prescribed medication
  • have damage to your neck, back, spine, legs or eyes

Can my child/young person take part?

Young participants must be aged 10+. Those aged 10 to 15 years old require a parent/guardian to be present to give signed permission and to complete a non-standard waiver.

Are there any other restrictions to taking part?

For safety reasons, there is a minimum weight requirement of 30kg and a maximum weight limit of 120kg per participant. The launch hatch (which you will jump from) measures 100cm x 58cm.

Can I wear fancy dress?

Fancy dress is allowed, however please avoid wearing capes or anything bulky as this will prevent safe harness fitting and may not fit through the launch hatch. You will be advised by a specialist team on the day if your outfit is unsuitable so please bring spare clothes just in case.
