Dragon Boat Race

Now in its twelfth year, the Dragon Boat Race is a unique corporate or group team-building event and family fun day that helps to support hundreds of children and young people across the region.

How does it work?
The race takes part over one day and each team will take part in a minimum of 3 races before the fastest team goes through to the semi-final. The boat and life jackets are provided; all you need to do is recruit a team! Each boat needs between 8 - 10 paddlers and a drummer to keep the rhythm, however you can also bring up to 4 reserves if you wish.

Who can enter?
Anyone. Whether you are a group of friends, a sports club or entering through a company, this will be a great day out for you. All we ask is that you are over 16 (16 and 17 year olds will need written permission from a parent/guardian) and that you are able to swim 50 metres.

Entertainment
As well as the main action taking place on the lake there will be refreshments and a range of activities available throughout the day for the whole family. Please do encourage spectators - all welcome.

Please raise some sponsorship
In addition to the £350 entry fee which secures your boat, we ask that each team collectively raises a minimum of £1000 sponsorship - that's just £100 per person. A full fundraising pack will be provided for each team to guide you along the way.

Prizes
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies and medals for winning participants
  • Best dressed team - encourage your team to pick a theme and get dressed up
  • Best fundraising team – raise as much money as possible and win a prize!
Tug of War
You can also enter a team of 8 - 10 people in the Tug of War competition. Entry only £65 per team.

Gazebos
For an additional £65 we can have a gazebo on site waiting for you on the day. Please ask when you book as there is limited availability for these.
