Lottery FAQs



How does it work?
After signing up, you'll receive your unique six-digit lucky number in the post which will be yours for as long as you play. This number will be entered into the draw each Friday permitting your account is in credit. All the winners are selected at random using our lottery software system Combase, which is completely automated. 
 
Why is the price £4.34 a month?
The monthly cost breakdown of £4.34 for playing the lottery is based on paying £1 per week over a 52 week year. there will be five weeks in a month and the additional £0.34p is to build up credit to cover the fifth week on the five-week months.
 
Can I have more than one number?
Yes! You can have up to 10 numbers, the more numbers you have the more chances you have of winning whilst supporting a great cause.

I already have one number, can I increase my numbers without filling in the online form?
Yes! Simply email lottery@martinhouse.org.uk, with your request and we will be happy to help.
 
 
   
How do I join?
Joining is simple, just click here to join online. This is the easiest way to join our lottery, alternatively you can download our form and post it to Martin House Lottery, Grove Road, Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, LS23 6PX
 
Can I Gift Aid my lottery payment?
Unfortunately, as with any charity fundraising lottery, entries are not eligible for Gift Aid. We can, however, claim Gift Aid on donations. To make a one-off donation for Martin House please click here.

What can I win?
Each week we have £1,200 in prizes to be won!
1st Prize - £1,000
2nd Prize - £100
3rd Prize – 10 x £10
 
Do I have to claim my prize?
No, we will post all winner cheques. If you are lucky enough to win the £1,000 and £100, we will give you a call. If you would like to donate the cheque please do email us at lottery@martinhouse.org.uk or call us on 01937  844569.

What is the minimum age to enter the Lottery?
You must be over the age of 18 to enter the lottery.

How do you promote responsible gambling?
We are members of the Hospice Lotteries Association (HLA), we are committed to using our lottery to raise important and vital funds for our hospice in a responsible way.  As members of the HLA we support:

How is the lottery money spent?
Last year our lottery proceeds were £321,648, of that 55% went directly to our cause, 19% on prizes, 20% on recruiting new supporters which is vital for our growth and only 6% on expenses’
 
We have spent 20% on recruiting new supporters as this allows us to grow the lottery meaning more money can be used to support our work. Since 2018 we have been expanding our lottery which has led to an increase from 2500 lines to over 6000 lines. This has meant we have over doubled our lottery income in these last two years which has resulted in more money for the children we support.
