Tim Halstead (Chair)
Tim is a solicitor and joined the trustees in 2013. He chaired the Finance and Resources Committee before becoming chair of the board in 2017.
Richard Lewis
Richard joined the board in 2024. He is a retired chartered surveyor who chairs the campaign board for THE BUILD project and is a member of the Finance and Resources Committee.
Gordon Singer
Gordon became a director in 2018. He is a member of our Finance and Resources Committee where he hopes to use his experience to support our finance team.
Mike Millington
Mike joined the board in 2013. He is passionate about providing care and support to the families that use our services.
Stephen Plews
Steven takes an active role in supporting our fundraising teams and is also a member of the Finance and Resource committee.
Dr Jayne Price
Jayne was a professor of children’s nursing at Kingston University unto her retirement from the post in February 2025.
Jayne continues to influence practice and education through consultancy work. She is associate editor of Journal of Child Health Care Journal.
Tim Straughan
Tim joined the board in 2017 and chairs the Finance and Resources Committee. He wants to use his experience to help the hospice provide the best possible personalised care.
Dr Shiela Puri
Dr Puri joined the board in 2022. She worked as a consultant paediatrician with children with complex neuro-disability for 25 years. She is passionate to help support families and children with complex needs.
Yasmin Khan
Yasmin trained as a GP and now works in a leadership role in the NHS in Yorkshire, where she has lived for many years.
Yasmin is keen to use her skills and knowledge of health service dynamics to support Martin House to grow and make a difference to even more families and young people’s lives when they need it most.
Will Linley
Will has worked in estate agency for the past 40 years. In 1997, Will co-founded Linley & Simpson, which went on to become Yorkshire's largest agency.
Will maintains a number of business interests, including a director of Venturi Homes Ltd and a member of the Finance & Resources Committee and Campaign Board at Martin House.
For the past 15 years Linley & Simpson have been committed supporters of Martin House, something that Will has been instrumental in and very proud of. Whilst stepping away from Linley & Simpson, the opportunity to become a trustee, and continue to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile organisation, was very appealing.
Mel Brooksbank
Joining the board in September 2025, Mel currently works for the the Civil Service and brings experience in leadership, finance and operations.
Having received support from the hospice in 2018 following the birth of her first son, she has a deep personal understanding of the charity’s impact and is committed to giving back.
As a trustee, she is dedicated to supporting the hospice’s mission and ensuring it continues to provide high-quality, compassionate care for families in need.
Paula Dillon
After retiring from a career in real estate law, Paula now works as a non-executive director, mainly in financial services.
After attending some events and realising the full extent of Martin House’s work, Paula was inspired to become a trustee to do her best to make a contribution to that work.
As well as the main board, Paula sits on the Financial Resources Committee.
