We are building on our pool of volunteers to support the work of both the hospice’s main office reception and the Children’s Wing reception. This is a busy, rewarding and varied position with the opportunity to help in numerous ways, with the support and guidance of our Reception Managers.
We will chat to you about which areas you would like to support with, which could include:
- Greeting and assisting families and business visitors.
- Answering telephone queries and redirecting calls.
- Counting donations.
- Ad-hoc administration, including the use of basic Microsoft packages (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Sorting incoming post and parcel deliveries and collecting and franking outgoing post.
Commitment:
Our reception volunteers support us throughout Monday-Friday, giving anything between a few hours and a full day.
Volunteer profile:
- A flexible and positive approach.
- Adaptability to the role’s requirements.
- Personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers.
- Being sensitive to providing support within a care environment.
Support you will receive from Martin House, and your involvement in our organisation includes:

- You will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Martin House offers.
- You will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity.
- We will reimburse reasonable expenses.
- Full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role.
