Charity Shop Volunteer

This is a key position supporting the work of our retail outlets across the region. Alongside our retail staff and our other retail volunteers you’ll become part of a busy team which generates as much income as possible to support our children, young people and families.

The role includes:

  • serving customers
  • sorting and steaming clothes
  • housekeeping and merchandising
  • handling cash and using a credit card machine
  • introducing Gift Aid to donors
  • promoting our Lottery
  • speaking with people wishing to donate items
  • ensuring quality customer service
  • championing our core values and family-focused ethos within the community

Commitment

We’re currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our shops across North Yorkshire. Whether you can give a few hours a week or more, your time makes a huge difference.

Ripon Shop

Till Volunteers:

    • Monday afternoon

    • Tuesday (all day or part-day)

    • Thursday & Friday morning

    • Saturday afternoon

    • Sunday (all day or part-day)

Harrogate

Till Volunteers:

    • Monday & Wednesday afternoon

    • Sunday (all day or part-day)

Backroom/Shop Floor Support:

  • Monday to Friday (flexible times)

Selby

Till Volunteers:

    • Saturday (all day or part-day)

Ilkley

Till Volunteers:

    • Tuesday afternoon

    • Saturday & Sunday (all day or part-day)

Backroom/Shop Floor Support:

  • Monday afternoon

  • full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role
  • volunteers are invited to attend hospice-wide events which include other areas of our work

  • we ask all our volunteers to follow our policies and procedures
  • we will need you to complete documentation relating to the role
