Paddle in a historic race, compete against other teams, and enjoy a full day of family-friendly entertainment. Your participation helps raise essential funds to support the hospice’s work, providing care and support for children and families across Yorkshire.
How it works
Each team will compete in at least three thrilling races with the fastest teams progressing to the semi-finals. Each team requires 10 paddlers and a drummer to keep the beat. Don’t worry—we provide everything you need, including the boat and life jackets, so all you need to bring is your energy, team spirit, and competitive edge!
Who can enter?
Everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a sports club, a group of friends, or a work team, this is your chance to get involved. You just need to be over 16 (with parental permission for under-18s) and be able to swim at least 50 metres. Want to include someone under 16? Contact us for more details.
A day for the whole family
While the races heat up on the lake, there’s plenty of entertainment for everyone! Enjoy fairground rides, tasty refreshments, and a chance to win Best Dressed—so be sure to pick a fun team name and theme! It’s a day filled with excitement, laughs, and plenty of opportunities to cheer your team on.
Raise funds, win prizes
In addition to the entry fee, each team is asked to raise a minimum of £1200 in sponsorship—that’s just £120 per person. Our dedicated events team is here to help you with fundraising tips, ideas, and support. And don’t forget, the team that raises the most funds will earn a special prize, so start brainstorming your best fundraising ideas today!
Each team needs to have raised 50% of their target before they will be entered onto the racing schedule so make sure you set up your JustGiving pages early!

- Silver: Team entry + Tug of War entry – £415
- Gold: Team entry, Tug of War, and Gazebo (limited availability) – £480
