Ian takes on 52 miles at 52-years-old!

Ian is not only taking on the London Marathon for us, he’s also taking on Manchester Marathon just one week before!

Here’s what Ian had to say:

Why did you choose to do the London Marathon in support of us?

‘18 months ago, I was 50 and fat with three young children. They expect me to be a dad regardless of how old I am. I needed to do the things they wanted and not blame age so I started on Couch to 5k. I thought I’d enter the London Marathon as a daft unachievable incentive and I got accepted through the ballot — help!

‘But I did it! I fell in love with it and the only part missing was running it for someone who can really benefit. Martin House gives me that push in the evening to get out there. It is close to Skipton in heart and location. It has children and family at its core. which is all about love and memories.’

Where is your favourite place to run?

‘Outside! The Yorkshire Dales are amazing.’

Favourite running music?

‘Radio 5. Definitely no music as I speed up! And when I get a dodgy tune, it’s four minutes of torture!’

Top marathon training tip?

‘No headphones. Take in the atmosphere! That will carry you over the finish line.’

What will you be having for your pre-race breakfast?

A full Travelodge special!’

Have you ever run a marathon before?

‘London last October.’
