“We knew Mareyah was special, she was an amazing little girl. She brightened up everyone’s day.”
"It was Mareyah’s first Christmas, and she was seriously ill. Martin House stepped in. I was so stressed out and so scared of the unknown, they whisked me and my other kids off to Stockeld Park. We had hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, we had a whale of a time. I carried the weight of the world on my shoulders, but they did as well, they could see the stress through me. Just to see them, running around, to see my children just being children was amazing.
We came back to Martin House, and we did some baubles with Mareyah’s toes, and just made that sad time special. I was so stressed and just thinking about getting Mareyah better, I wouldn’t have thought about capturing those memories, those keepsakes. I’ve got those to keep, I can go back to those times and remember, and that’s because Martin House did that for us.
The last Christmas party she had at Martin House, we had real snow. They make it so special. The memories are there, they’ll aways be there. I can’t find the right words, but it’s a feeling it gave me. And it was an amazing feeling."

You’ve got to grasp those moments, with both hands. They’re there to cherish. You don’t know how many you’re going to get.
