Course overview

Verification of expected death is a vital and sensitive aspect of paediatric palliative care. This course supports nurses to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to undertake this role safely and professionally.

Learning outcomes:  

  • Be able to define the term ‘expected death’ 
  • Understand the differences between verification and certification of death 
  • Understand the legal issues, documentation and record keeping requirements  
  • Demonstrate the correct procedure for detecting the absence of vital signs

 

Certification: Certificate of attendance will be sent on completion of course. 

Please note that this session delivers theoretical training and hands on simulated practice only. Delegates will need to be assessed in their workplace by someone able to assess competency in that environment.
