Paediatric Palliative Medicine Consultant

Applicants are now invited to apply for a consultant in paediatric palliative medicine (8PA) post, based at Martin House.

This post is suitable for a capable enthusiastic paediatric palliative consultant with full GMC registration who is keen to join a dynamic hospice based team. The successful applicant will be expected to work throughout the service for children and young adults- including providing paediatric palliative care in Martin House Hospice, the acute hospitals and in the community.

The successful applicant will participate in the specialist on-call rota (on-call supplement applies).

Our ideal candidate will

  • Want to work in a well-established, award winning hospice, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to support the children, young people and their families from the time of their referral through to end of life care.
  • MB BS (or equivalent)
  • Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), or equivalent.
  • CCT Paediatric Palliative Medicine or equivalent (or within 6 months of obtaining) (CESR applications must be on the specialist register at the point of application)
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in paediatric palliative medicine in hospice, hospital and community settings including complex symptom management, ethical clinical decision making, advance care planning and end of life care.
  • Experience in organisation of clinical audit and medical education to enhance service provision and education provision
