Volunteer at the hospice

EBay volunteers
We need volunteers with computer skills to help us to price, photograph and load items on to our eBay site. You would also need to be able to liaise with potential customers and pack and post items. Days and times to suit.

PAT Testing
Could you volunteer for us and help us to PAT test our electrical items for our shops. This would ideally be one monring or afternoon a week and would be based at our warehouse on Thorp Arch.  This would suit a qualified or retired electrician.

We are fortunate to have a small number of volunteers who regularly come in to help our maintenance team.

Volunteers help us with tasks such as:

  • washing and checking the cars - Volunteer urgently needed on a Monday 9am - 12pm
  • repairing the children’s bikes and toys or changing light bulbs

  • maintaining the children's computers

  • small jobs around the buildings and grounds

We also have a team of volunteers who spend their time driving and running errands, collecting and delivering collection boxes, collecting donated goods and delivering them to the shops. We urgently need more drivers so if you are interested please do give us a call.

Reception volunteers have a variety of tasks which include answering the phone, making drinks, greeting families and visitors at the door, counting money, photocopying, laminating items for the Care Team or Fundraising, helping process incoming post and franking outgoing post.

The office can be a very busy environment at times so it is important to be flexible and have a good sense of humour, being sensitive to the constantly changing situations which occur during any given day.

We need volunteers help out as reserves/bank volunteers, to cover on a flexible basis when staff or volunteers are off sick.  This could be either mornings (9.00am – 12.30pm) or afternoons (1.30pm – 5pm) Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

A number of our volunteers help out in the kitchen, baking cakes and helping with meals. These volunteers work closely with Robin, our resident chef.

We have a committed team of volunteers who support our Gardener with maintaining the spacious gardens around Martin House and keeping them looking beautiful all year round.
