Designer / Maker

Purpose of the role: To develop design ideas and manufacture products made from recycled materials for sale within Martin house stores and pop-up spaces 
 
Location: Flexible – could be from home, in a group with others in public space or at our workshop space

Project Aim: To upcycle donated goods to sell across our network of charity shops and at fairs across the region

Hours: Flexible

Responsible to: Retail Pop Up Project Manager

Main Tasks:
  • Designing/Making items from donated/recycled materials for resale in our shops and at our pop up stalls
  • Communicating designs and products to others for reproduction as desireable
  • Maintaining integrity in designs in line with the ethos of the organisation
  • Items might include: knitting; sewing; crafting; painting/drawing; upcycling furniture; jewellery
  • Items are then returned to MH for sale
  • Engaging and communicating with marketing and communication to convey ‘story’ of products and their unique selling points
  • Working with customer profiles to ensure a good product match
  • Maintaining and monitoring environmental standards and suitability for sale to the general public

Relevant Skills & Experience:
  • An eye for design, trends & colour
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team
  • Technical and aesthetic skills - any of the above techniques

Training will be given as required to enable the tasks to be carried out
