Workshop Organiser

Purpose of the role: To manage the Martin House Makers workshop, ensuring workshop vounteers are supported and saleable items are produced for the Makers Project.
 
Location: Martin House shop, Harrogate (Workshop is on the 2nd floor – no lift available)

Project Aim: To upcycle donated goods to sell across our network of charity shops and at fairs across the region

Hours: Flexible – some evening and weekend work included

Responsible to: Retail Pop Up Project Manager

Main Tasks:
  • Managing the workshop space
  • Securing donations of fabric, sewing & craft goods and other items that can be used in upcycling
  • Recruiting volunteers to work in the workshop
  • Managing the workshop volunteer rota
  • Providing hands on support to volunteers with sewing and making project
  • Being main point of contact for workshop
  • Promoting the project generally
  • Product development and design
  • Contributing to the production of products for sale
  • Establish identity for space
  • Organising, running and montoring workshops
  • Reporting on any issues and contributing to the development of the project both internally and externally

Relevant Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of sewing and design, ideally within a commercial\craft environment
  • Ability to work alone and part of a team
  • Ability to explain and teach techniques and sewing skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ideally understanding of use of social media, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook

Training will be given as required to enable the tasks to be carried out
