Individual Giving Volunteer

This is a key position supporting the work of our Individual Giving Team
The role includes:
  • Completing Welcome Calls - Telephoning new lottery players to thank them for joining up to the weekly Martin House Lottery draw. Gathering details of their sign up experience and completing the Lottery experience Excel spreadsheet.
  • Assisting the Individual Giving team, and other teams when necessary, with general administrative tasks such as scanning, photocopying, folding letters and Excel research.  
  • Answering the office telephone during particularly busy periods.
  • Thanking our supporters through handwritten or typed letters, and verbally over the telephone.
3 hours per week (with flexibility if necessary)
Volunteer profile:
  • Organised.
  • A flexible and positive approach.
  • Adaptability to the role’s requirements.
  • Confident in communicating with supporters and members of staff.  
  • A friendly and respectful approach to supporter engagement.
  • Confident using programmes such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook independently. Comfortable learning how to use, and using, more complex databases such as ThankQ (Our CRM database that holds all supporter information).
  • Comfortable to work both independently and collaboratively.
Support you will receive from Martin House, and your involvement in our organisation includes:
  • Regular contact with the manager responsible for the area with which you will volunteer.
  • You will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Martin House offers.
  • You will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity.
  • We will reimburse reasonable expenses.
  • Full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role.
  • If volunteering over the lunchtime period at the hospice itself, lunch will be provided.
  • Volunteers are invited to attend an annual hospice-wide training day which includes other areas of our work.
  • Volunteers are invited to join the Martin House Volunteer Forum (more information available on request).
  • We ask all our volunteers to follow Martin House policies and procedures.
  • We will need you to complete documentation relating to the role.
Due to the nature of this role, applicants will require a Basic DBS check.
