Toy Cleaning Volunteer


The volunteer role: Toy cleaning and play room tidying
Reports to: Care Team and Housekeeping Team
Location: Martin House Hospice, Boston Spa, LS23
Current vacancies: We are looking for two volunteers, working individually or together, for 2-3 hours on one weekday per week, between the hours of 9am and 4pm (however, weekend shifts are negotiable if this is more suitable to applicants).

This is a key position supporting the work of our Care Team and our Housekeeping Team.

The role includes:
  • Keeping toys and dressing-up clothes clean and hygienic
  • Checking toys to ensure they are in working order
  • Cleaning toy storage equipment, and other associated cleanliness duties related to the playroom
  • Highlighting any safety issues with toys

  • Ability to relate to people of all ages
It is important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. You will have training on cleaning products and methods, and infection prevention and control safety. You will have a supervisor as a point of contact, and to provide you with support and guidance. Applicants offered the position will be required to undergo a DBS check. If working over the lunchtime period, lunch will be provided. Volunteers are invited to attend an annual hospice-wide training day which includes other areas of our work.
