Tim Halstead (Chair)

A native of Bradford, Tim was educated at Woodhouse Grove and Leeds University. He now lives with his family in York.

He joined the trustees in 2013. He chaired the Finance and Resources Committee before becoming chair of the board of trustees in 2017.

He is a solicitor and was for over 25 years managing partner of Shulmans LLP, a corporate law firm based in Leeds. In 2020, he joined Switalskis Solicitors as Chief Operating Officer, working with the rest of their management team on strategic and operational matters.

He applied to join the Martin House board of trustees after working with the charity in his professional capacity, when he saw at first hand the wonderful way in which it supports children, young people and their families. He has been pleasantly surprised by how much of the experience that he has acquired in professional and business life has been useful in his role as a trustee. He urges anyone who is unsure about becoming a charity trustee to look more closely at the available opportunities.
