Shop Manager - Ripon

Salary: £18,032.00 - dependant on experience (pro rata for part time)
Hours of work: 35 hours - over a 5/7 rota
Contract type: Permanent, full time

Martin House has been caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions from West, North and East Yorkshire for more than 30 years. Every year we care for more than 420 families at our hospice in Boston Spa, in hospitals and in their own homes. We also support more than 150 bereaved families each year.

We are seeking a sales-focused, creative and inspiring Shop Manager to lead our Ripon store.

Martin House Retail Team is a vital resource for the hospice to raise funds and increase public awareness of what we do out in the community. Each of our shops has its own personality due to our dedicated volunteers and staff. Our customers are met with great customer service, whether they are looking for a vintage item, a bargain or simply something that takes their eye.

As store manager you will use your resourcefulness to drive the business forwards. We work using a volunteer model, therefore excellent interpersonal skills are essential to engaging and empowering your volunteer workforce.

Our ideal candidate will:
  • be dedicated, compassionate, work in collaboration, be open, honest, flexible, caring and deliver high standards in everything you do
  • want to work in a well-established, award winning hospice
  • have a passion for fashion and/or experience in a retail environment
  • a business flair to spot opportunities to make improvements to the shop and capitalise on fundraising potential
  • be creative and innovative, for example making inviting and interesting shop window displays, utilising social media to draw people into the shop
  • excellent communication and relationship building skills, be able to inspire your staff and volunteers
