Maintenance Manager

Salary: £24,907 dependant on experience (pro rata for part time)
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with some flexibility to cover occasional events and sessions at weekends and in the evening
Contract type: Permanent, full time

Martin House has been caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions from West, North and East Yorkshire for more than 30 years. Every year we care for more than 420 families at our hospice in Boston Spa, in hospitals and in their own homes. We also support more than 150 bereaved families each year.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our Facilities Team in supporting the hospice and retail.

You will have experience of
  • contractor management
  • permit to work systems
  • preparing and reviewing risk assessments
  • coordinating work across multiple sites
  • managing a small team
  • document control
  • compliance with health and safety and environmental legislation in relation to facilities management
  • managing planned preventive maintenance as well as reactive maintenance
  • preparing maintenance schedules
  • fleet management
  • managing budgets

  • want to work in a well-established, award winning hospice, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to support the children, young people and their families from the time of their referral through to end of life care
  • leadership, management and motivational skills when supervising staff and volunteers

  • good verbal and written communication skills                                                
  • ability to work to a high standard
  • strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines on your own or as part of a team
  • a good working knowledge of the statutory regulatory framework and legal requirements relating to facilities management
  • awareness of current health & safety legislation & requirements
  • working knowledge of basic electrics, plumbing, heating etc.
