Law firm celebrates successful Make a Will Month

Leeds law firm Avery Walters is celebrating a successful first year of taking part in Martin House’s Make a Will Month.

The scheme gives people the chance to make or update a basic will at a cost of £60 for individuals or £110 for mirror wills – a considerable saving on the usual price.

Chapel Allerton firm Avery Walters joined Make a Will Month – which runs throughout May – for the first time this year and received several referrals through the scheme.

Sara Parascandolo, Avery Walters director, said: “We were pleasantly surprised by the response rate, and we hope to increase the number taking up the offer each year.

“Martin House is a fantastic place, and we’re delighted to support the vital work it does. As a firm we work with charities which are at the older end of the spectrum, but it’s nice to also help a service for children and young people.”

Legacies are vitally important to Martin house and in fact make up more than a quarter of our income.

Jodie Shepherd, director of fundraising at Martin House, said: “The support of firms like Avery Walters is incredibly important to us in the continuing success of Make a Will Month, and we are thrilled they are on board to take part again next year.

“No one who makes a will as part of Make a Will Month is under any obligation to leave a gift in their will to Martin House, but a legacy could enable us to continue providing care and support to future generations of children and young people in Yorkshire.”

The next Make a Will Month takes place in May 2018.
