Global's Make Some Noise chooses Martin House

Martin House will be featured on national radio after being chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Global’s Make Some Noise Emergency Appeal.

Global’s Make Some Noise is the official charity of Global, home to some of the UK’s biggest radio brands including Heart, Capital, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold.

The appeal aims to support small charities across the country hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic, whose services are needed more than ever, both on the frontline now and in months to come.

Aimee Hayhurst, corporate partnerships team manager at Martin House, said: “We’re delighted to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Global’s Make Some Noise.

“It is an amazing platform for us to share the impact Martin House has on families across our region, and why we need people’s support now more than ever, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Martin House receives only 10 per cent of its running costs from statutory sources, and relies on fundraising and voluntary income to make up the rest of the £9 million a year it takes to run the hospice.

It estimates the lockdown has so far cost Martin House around £1.7 million in fundraising income, with its events and activities likely to be affected for the rest of this year.

Throughout the lockdown, the hospice has remained open to families in need of urgent support, for emergency symptom control, end of life care and to use its cooled bedrooms after a child has died.

Global’s Make Some Noise campaign will be highlighted on shows across its radio stations, culminating a day of action on 19th June, when the stations will come together to raise money for its chosen charities.
