Business Club celebrates third birthday

20 June 2017
Martin House Business Club celebrated its third birthday in June with a special meeting at Oulton Hall Hotel in Rothwell.

Around 40 Business Club memCutbers and guests attended the event, which was hosted by Leeds Audi.
David Ross from Valeos talked about his support for Martin House and the Business Club, and kindly provided a prosecco toast to the future progression of the club.

Martin House founder the Venerable Richard Seed gave a moving and personal perspective on our work, talking about the impact a life-limiting illness on families, as well as answering questions from the audience.

He said: “The vision of Martin House is to walk alongside the family, to go on this journey with them. Martin House started from three founding families, it now has this huge family of friends and supporters.”

Corporate fundraiser John Haigh gave details of recent support given to Martin House events by Business Club members, including our Glitter Ball, the Dragon Boat Race and various athletic events, while events fundraiser Ellie Barker told members about forthcoming events they could get involved in.

Matt Smith and Richard McClay highlighted the latest developments at Leeds Audi, and finally Paul Priest, sales director of Q Hotels gave a description of the recently updated facilities at Oulton Hall and took some Business Club members on a tour.

John Haigh said: “It was a fantastically well-attended meeting, and our thanks go to Leeds Audi for hosting us in such a fabulous location, and to David Ross for his gift of a prosecco toast.

“Richard Seed always talks with immense power and sensitivity about the impact of life-limiting illnesses and grief on families, and the long-term nature of the services needed to support them.

“I think everyone found his talk profoundly moving, and a timely reminder of what the Business Club is here to support. We now look forward to developing the club in the next three years."

The next Business Club meeting will be hosted by Brewin Dolphin at its offices on Wellington Place, Leeds, on Thursday 14th September from 12pm to 2.30pm. Anyone interested in joining Martin House Business Club can visit our Business Club page.
