Tim Straughan


Tim is a qualified dentist and worked in general practice and community services before training with KPMG as a Chartered Accountant.  He has subsequently worked mainly in the NHS in a number of local and national finance and general management roles. 

Previous roles include leading NHS Estates and being Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Health and Social Care Information Centre (now NHS Digital).

Tim currently works for NHS England where he leads on the implementation of Personalised Care by supporting local care systems to make the most of the expertise, capacity, and potential of the people, families and local communities they serve. This includes the greater and more effective use of Patient Choice, Shared Decision Making, Personalised Care and Support Plans, Supported Self Management, Social Prescribing and Personal Health Budgets. Tim is also the national lead for Palliative and End of Life Care and works closely with national partners including Hospice UK, Togeher for Short Lives, and many other charities.

Tim joined the Martin House Board of Trustees in 2017 and also chairs the Finance and Resources Committee. Tim is very proud to be part of Martin House and wants to use all of his finance, healthcare and wider board level experience to help the hospice provide the best possible personalised care and support to the children, young adults and families they serve.
