Barry Wright

Professor Barry Wright is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has worked in York since 1995.  His main role is to support children and families who have emotional, psychological difficulties or mental health problems, and he has always sought to do this in positive, constructive and empowering ways.  He has expertise in working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, deaf children and children with physical illnesses or life limiting illnesses.  For fifteen years he provided a service to the paediatric wards, and for twelve years he supported staff at Martin House Children's Hospice.

Barry also has experience of management within the NHS and is Clinical Director of the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.  He is particularly keen on making sure that children and families have a positive experience within services and that their views are keenly listened to in order to develop and shape services for the better.

Barry will be keen to support the strong holistic ethos at Martin House Children's Hospice and to promote the voice of families in maintaining the high quality that we have come to expect from Martin House.
