Clinical Nurse Specialist in Children's and/or Neonatal Palliative Care

Closing Date: 27/08/2018

We are looking for three exceptional and experienced children’s nurses to join our Care Team as Clinical Nurse Specialists.

You will be joining us at a very exciting time, as we rapidly expand our community-based hospice and palliative care services for babies, children and young adults with life limiting conditions, and their families.

You will be based at Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa, providing care across the region, in West, North and East Yorkshire and the Humber.

You will work alongside our multidisciplinary care team, including nurses, allied health professionals and doctors.

Hospital in-reach will be central to your role – you will provide expert clinical advice to hospital-based colleagues, reviewing children with palliative care needs admitted to hospital, and facilitating complex hospital discharge.

Working flexibly with children and their families in their own homes, you will provide essential support through the provision of advanced level nursing and specialist palliative care. You will be expected to work over a seven day period, which will include some on call and out of hours work.

We’re looking for nurse who has a passion for:
  • Providing families with true choice in their place of care
  • Using advanced level nursing to keep children out of hospital
  • Developing the community-based service, building awareness and increasing our reach.
  • Working closely with other agencies

In addition, we’re looking for a nurse who is:
  • Experienced in both palliative and community based care
  • Able to teach and assess other members of the team
  • Interested in taking a lead role in team development
  • A non-medical prescriber, or enrolled on a V300 course.

Experience of working with neonates would be a definite advantage.

If you really want to make a difference to families and play a key role in the design and delivery of our care services, we want to hear from you. In return we'll give you all the support you need to develop your career in children's palliative care, with the opportunity to study for further qualifications in this field. Other benefits include:
  • A welcoming working environment
  • Ability to remain in the NHS Pension scheme
  • Eight weeks of annual leave
  • Free parking
  • Free meals and paid breaks
