Scarborough Friends call for volunteers

18 July 2018
A group of charity supporters have won the backing of a Scarborough supermarket for Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People.

Scarborough Friends of Martin House nominated the hospice to become the Falsgrave Road Sainsbury’s store’s local charity of the year.

Martin House won a public vote, and the Scarborough Friends now have the opportunity to fundraise with a series of collection days at the store – but they need more volunteers to help them.

Becky Nicholson, community fundraiser at Martin House, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have this chance to raise money and make more people aware of the vital work we do to support families in this area.

“We want to make the most of the opportunity, so we need more volunteers to come along and help us to raise money.”

Collection days will take place on Thursdays to Sundays on 2nd to 5th August, 11th to 14th October, 22nd to 25th November, and on 20th and 22nd December.

Members of Scarborough Friends will be at all the collection days, but are looking for extra volunteers to help them with collection buckets and handing out leaflets and stickers.

Becky added: “We’d be so grateful if someone has a few hours they can spare on these dates, as every penny we collect will help make a difference to children and young people who really need our support.”
