Knaresborough shop opens

10 July 2019
ITV Calendar presenter Christine Talbot has officially opened Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People’s new charity shop in Knaresborough.

Christine, an ambassador for Martin House, cut the ribbon to open the new shop, on Market Place, on Wednesday 3rd July, with the help of Knaresborough Town Crier Roger Hewitt, who gave a welcoming cry to the charity.

She said: “Martin House gives such important support to families in our region, so it’s a huge pleasure to open this new shop for Martin House, and I wish it every success.”

The shop is the 13th in the Martin House chain, which raise over £1 million a year to support the hospice’s work, caring for children and young people with life-shortening conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire.

Steph Rimmington, head of retail at Martin House, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the warm welcome we’ve had from the businesses and people of Knaresborough, and the huge amount of support from our new customers.”

The shop is looking for volunteers to help at the shop – anyone interested can call into the shop at 34 Market Place, call Martin House on 01937 845045 or register online at www.martinhouse.org.uk/volunteering.
