Volunteer at the Hospice

We have a number of volunteers who support our fundraising team in answering and directing calls, performing administrative tasks and maintaining our database of supporters.

Meet and Greet volunteers, Fundraising

We urgently need volunteers to meet and greet visitors to our fundraising department, and help us out by handling phone calls coming into the office.  Times that we are looking to cover are Monday mornings, Wednesday 3.00 – 5.00pm and Fridays.

There are also opportunities available for volunteers to sell Christmas cards at local venues (weekdays and weekends) and to help promote our wedding favours at wedding fairs (weekends).

We also have a team of volunteers who spend their time driving and running errands, collecting and delivering collection boxes, collecting donated goods and delivering them to the shops.

Reception volunteers have a variety of tasks which include answering the phone, making drinks, greeting families and visitors at the door, counting money, photocopying, laminating items for the Care Team or Fundraising, helping process incoming post and franking outgoing post.

The office can be a very busy environment at times so it is important to be flexible and have a good sense of humour, being sensitive to the constantly changing situations which occur during any given day.

We need volunteers help out as reserves/bank volunteers, to cover on a flexible basis when staff or volunteers are off sick.  This could be either mornings (9.00am – 12.30pm) or afternoons (1.30pm – 5pm) Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

We are fortunate to have a small number of volunteers who regularly come in to help our maintenance team.

Volunteers help us with tasks such as:

  • washing and checking the cars

  • repairing the children’s bikes and toys or changing light bulbs

  • maintaining the children's computers

  • small jobs around the buildings and grounds

A number of our volunteers help out in the kitchen, baking cakes, helping with meals etc. they work closely with Robin, our resident chef.

We have a committed team of volunteers who support our Gardener with maintaining the spacious gardens around Martin House and keeping them looking beautiful all year round.
