Martin House Opens Doors for Hospice Care Week

26 August 2016
As a fitting introduction to National Hospice Care Week (3-9 October) on Sunday 2nd October the community will be given a rare opportunity to see inside Martin House Children’s Hospice and find out how the charity supports families across West, North and East Yorkshire.

Supporters old and new are invited to drop in between 11am and 3pm to find out more about the care and support the hospice offers. There will be guided tours by members of the team, talks from special guests, a range of activities and refreshments on offer, and chances to find out more about fundraising and volunteering.

Deputy Director of Care, Linda Hedley said: “The theme of this year’s Hospice Care Week is “Hospice care is...”, offering organisations like Martin House the chance to show just what hospice care means for families.
“Martin House is so much more than a building. Our Open Day is an opportunity for anyone thinking about supporting a children’s charity, or indeed already supporting Martin House, to come along with an open mind and discover what hospice care means for children, young people and families in our region.”

This family-friendly event offers a rare behind-the-scenes view of the hospice, giving supporters the chance to see what a difference their support has made and how the hospice plans to use its funds to meet families’ needs over the coming years.
