Martin House Children’s Hospice hosted their annual, prestigious ‘Glitter Ball’ at Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate on Friday 8th May.
The Ball is now an annual event for Martin House and one of the biggest fundraisers of the year, this year raising a staggering £45,000. A committee of local supporters worked on the event, together with Brenda Peel from Martin House, developing the theme and ideas. Brenda says “We were delighted to be back at Rudding Park this year and the entertainment, by the band HUGE, was amazing. The evening began with a champagne reception and was followed by a three course meal and fantastic raffle and auction. The prizes secured were fantastic and included a stay for 3 nights for two people at Kasbah Tamadot, Sir Richard Branson’s fabulous Moroccan retreat in the High Atlas Mountains, a training experience in a flight simulator, a wonderful diamond pendant from Berrys and a trip to the home of Bentley motors in Crewe.”
380 people attended the event from local businesses and the local community.
Martin House would like to thank everyone involved in the event, from the Committee who planned the ball, to the guests and helpers on the night who made it such a success.
Alyson Wort, Fundraising Manager at Martin House says “It is incredible how much the Glitter Ball Committee have achieved for the hospice. To get so many people to support this ball, which is in turn helping hundreds of children with a shortened life expectancy, is just wonderful. We need more help than ever in 2015 and we are delighted by the success of this superb event.”
