This weekend over 700 runners from across West, North and East Yorkshire took part in the Martin House Colour Run at Stockeld Park, Wetherby. Now in its second year, the event has attracted hundreds of new supporters for the charity and raised vital funds to support hospice care for children and young people across the region.
Sunday’s Colour Run enjoyed some of the best weather seen so far this year and StrayFM’s Nick Hancock spared no enthusiasm in firing up the crowds before the start of the run. The event saw participants of all ages make their way around the 3.5km course whilst being doused head to toe in colour at stations along the route. Thanks to the sponsorship of leading confectionery firm, HARIBO, and paint station sponsorship from local firms Branded3, Redrow and Weightmans, even more money will go to supporting Martin House families.
Caroline Hudson, Events Manager, said: “We were amazed at the final turnout for Sunday’s event and the amount of sponsorship raised by those taking part. The weather was glorious, and this only helped to raise everyone’s spirits and encourage them to get as colourful as possible. On behalf of all our families, a huge thank you goes to our supporting companies and to everyone who took part in the event.”
The final amount raised will be confirmed in the coming weeks and participants are encouraged to hand in remaining sponsorship as soon as possible. Supporters can find images and videos of the event on the Martin House Facebook page or Stray FM website.
