27 November 2014
Accolades aplenty for hospice staff and supporters
in Hospice UK’s 2014 Awards

Our Martin House Children’s Hospice music competition, Centre Stage, which gives local bands in Leeds a chance to perform at Reading and Leeds Festivals, and a 91-year-old pioneering doctor who transformed care for the dying in east Lancashire are among the award winners at Hospice UK’s 2014 Awards, supported by The National Gardens Scheme.

The awards, now in their fourth year, aim to recognise the significant contribution that both individuals and innovative programmes have made to hospice care in local communities across the UK.

Centre Stage offers great exposure for local bands and has helped Martin House to engage with younger supporters. Since it began, Centre Stage has hosted 150 acts, exposed the hospice to a collective crowd of over 8,000 people, with 60 bands performing at O2 Academy in Leeds and five performing at Leeds and Reading Festivals. So far, Centre Stage Music has raised £180,000.
